It's not even three hours into Obama's victory, so I'm sure this list is subject to enlargement, but here's a quick review of all the fun Facebook statuses I could gather:
"Travis: is having a great day. Just voted for McCain, got the new Hinder CD (raw as fuck) and Columbus football is #2 in the state. Yeee."
"Nathan: is eff this I'm moving to Kenya... haha jk good run McCain you had my vote but Obama I know you'll do what you can for this country."
"Spencer: is going abroad for 4 years..."
"Sabrina: America--FAIL"
"Allison: is not feeling well... physically, mentally, or emotionally."
"Adriana: is yayyy for socialism!!!!"
"Jordan: wonders what November storms will bring."
"Wyatt: shudders to think of what will happen to the usa, do you realize what you've done?"
"Shawn: is done voting."
"Matthew: is ...okay, honestly, the SCREAMING for the past 20 minutes in my dorm is getting really old."
"Kalen: is moving to europe."
"Kyle: is well, we've made our bed, now we have to lie in it."
"Aubrey: oh well i guess i can adjust to communism..."
"Cody: is o well."
"Ryan: wonders if it will still be called the white house."
"Andy: is Good Game America, we had some fun."
"Lindee: is so glad all this political stuff is over... and wants to go shoping!"
"Wyatt [some time later]: is proud of the plains states and the south, can't say much for the rest of the country."
"Jackson: is omg seriously."
"John: is at least we know Nebraska was for McCain. I can live knowing that..."
"Nate: is praying for Barack Obama. If he sticks to his self-proclaimed Christian ideals, then our country will be alright."
"Kia: is thank you mccain for being an american hero, and for putting his hand over his heart during the national anthem."
"John: is about to call the police about the people outside my window."
"Travis [same Travis as before, now after the announcement]: is Change: That's all you'll have left when he's done. Hitler gave great speeches too."
"Ashley: is happy for change :)"
I'll leave it at that, cause I need to get some homeworks done and maybe squeeze in some shut-eye before sunrise. Good evening, America. Good future. (I'm allowed to say that, right, cause isn't it impossible to be over sentimental? Isn't this actual history-being-made kind of news? I actually didn't mind when the dramatic Lifetime Original symphony music kicked in tonight after Obama's acceptance speech, and I almost didn't roll my eyes at the holy-cheese pseudo-country-alt-bland-rock song that followed it. ...Really, couldn't we have all used a moment of silence instead? Wouldn't that have just kicked all ass? Like Obama says 'God Bless the United States of America,' and then it's just thirty seconds of quiet contemplation. It works, right? Anybody? But whatever. It's history. Literally.)
Posted by suppletowelcuddle at November 4, 2008 11:43 PMhaha. funny, bc one of the first things I did when my mom told me they announced Obama won was log in fb to check statuses. it's the biggest forum eva.
although I'm glad I dont have the fb people you listed cause they are mostly cake eaters.
if i had a fb status it would be "The US just elected Barack Obama as their president... who did your country just elect?" aimed, in good fun of course, at my canadian colleagues who are relentless and now their PM is stephen harper (shudders)
i cried.
Posted by: jayme at November 11, 2008 10:06 PMWell, gosh, wouldn’t it be a shame if I became one of those people that talked about their job all the time? It’s interesting enough, I guess, but I bet it’s the type of thing that can get old after you’ve heard about it a few times.
As a creature of habit, as I’ve grown older and fatter, I have settled into a finite set of conversation topics.
They usually include sports, movies and youtube videos. On good days, I talk about food, women and poop.
It has been too long since I have talked about life.
The REM song Pop Song 89 has lines that sound like, “Shouldn’t talk about the weather. Shouldn’t talk about the government.” In a way, I think that is good advice. It gets a few things out of the way.
