Tim does not express himself through his art. Ergo, there's no arguing with how goddamn brilliant he is. Calling art self-expressive anymore is such a like... it's like calling a republican "conservative." Okay, sure, artists are more self-expressive than, like, janitors or housewives, but what the fuck does it mean to express yourself anymore? Do you even care? Hopefully not. Hopefully that hyphen has been spit at your ear so many times that there's just too much crusty residue for it to do anything but dribble down the lobe onto your collar. And if not--I mean, if that term still means something to you--well...
Self-expression.
Self-expression. Self-expression.
Self. Expression. Self-expression. Self-expression. Ex-selfpression. Prussian sex elf in precious flexes. Self self. Expression. Selfex? Pression? Sell. Fax. Press. Shun. Sss. Ehh. Ull. Fffffff. Ehh. Kuh. Sss. Puh. Urr. Rrrrrrrrrrrr... EH! Sh. UH! ...nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnow we're on the same page. So let's turn to the next one, aye?
Fuckin' aye.

I think there are expressionisms. Like different approaches to expression. Do I want to clear or cryptic? Old school or new school?
I think self expression is good. At the very least it is live, active. Hopefully not completely selfish.
I also think they expressionisms are inevitable. Helen Keller expressed herself when she named her dog mhnarmhnar, and you def expressed yourself with your cool little scat toward the end.
Though one thing that goes with expression is the chance that I have no effing idea what you are talking about. In that case I think it is good to strive to better express yourself.
I disagree with the majority of this.
Advice.
Find a copy of the incubus cd titled "Make Yourself" and then listen to track number 7, which is the title track. Then look at the lyrics. Apply as needed.
Some people make their art to express something they aren't, like they will play some sort of Devil's Advocate with their own art-work.
