There's a story about this two-faced baby girl named Lali on CNN right now. Check her out.

Here's some deep thoughts that immediately come to mind:
What would you perceive with two sets of eyes?
If one eye sees in two dimensions, and two eyes see in three dimensions, how many dimensions would you see in with four eyes?
How would you dream?
Think of all the ways you could look at "yourself" in the mirror.
Could a body with two faces be considered conjoined twins, joined at the... everything?
Or in other words... do two faces constitute two personas, even with one human brain?
The answer isn't as simple as "no" because I already tried thinking of it that way.
So many possibilities! Read slowly, cause each of these sentences deserves at least 5 seconds of playful wonderment:
...You could harmonize with yourself.
...You could watch your right AND left hands when you play piano or guitar.
...You could talk in stereo. And smell in stereo.
...You could look both ways before crossing.
...You could suck both of a girl's titties at once.
...You could hold one face underwater for as long as you wanted.
...You could be the happy and sad theater masks for Halloween.
...You could eat in half the time.
...You could watch the professor and take notes without missing a thing.
...You could watch the professor and stare at the hot girl in the soccer shorts without missing a thing.
God it sucks having only one face, when you think about it.
first thoughts are about liquidsish things...
could you control which mouth you coughed out of?
vomiting would be difficult if it was simultaneous...
i know babies in inda/china and other cities with the highest amounts of pollution are having babies born with third lungs (non functional yet) and I wonder what set of circumstances brought about two faces?
Posted by: jayme at April 9, 2008 9:31 AMA cough is so powerful that trying to suppress it with one of two throats would probably be about as impossible as suppressing a cough with the one throat you already have. I almost guarantee she coughs with both mouths.
Vomiting... It says she's got regular vital organs, so that kind of implies a forked trachea and a forked esophagus--or two of both/either. Anyway, she probably throws up from both at the same--hey wait a minute. This isn't nearly as intriguing as my conjoined twins inquiry. Is she two girls or one? Given how visual dreams tend to be (aka REM) does she dream two dreams at once? The human brain is a very, very capable thing.
Posted by: towel at April 9, 2008 2:08 PMi guess i resist that line of questioning because... well... i think of things like this
"One of the most horrifying things I have ever witnessed was an experiment in which a cat was "decerebrated", that is, it had all of its brain scraped out. It was still alive, and when an electrode was inserted into a certain part of its brain stem, the cat began to walk on a treadmill. It was a macabre experiment, but the scientist's enthusiasm in concluding that the nerves controlling a cat's walking ability must reside in the spine, blinded him to the horror of what he was doing."

and i know that's not exactly logical to jump from your curiousity to that... but its what happens. humans are not rational human beings.
and inorder to resolve the dream question (i think she'd have one dream), you'd first have to resolve how many dimensions she sees in. i imagine both sets of eyes would have REM, and the brain synergy between those four imputs, would be the single result.
and i've supressed coughs. it's not that difficult... unless you're choking.
well, i think they are removing one face... i dont think she has control over both. :(
Posted by: tim at April 13, 2008 2:57 PMBut just imagine if she did...man, that's some crazy shit to think about
Posted by: Rob at April 16, 2008 2:33 AMshe blinks with all four eyes. i imagine the primary reason they're removing it is so she can lead a regular life, devoid of all the sweet shit jayme and i have postulated. plus she's freaking out the orthodox Hindus.
