Battle Of Who Could Blog Less

So, as I sat reading the blogs on Combatrhino this morning, a question came to my mind that seemed integral to the meaning of my place in the world.

It seems as though there is a fiercely fought battle here at Combatrhino. It is the battle of who can blog the least and still validate his or her existence here on Combatrhino. And if someone blogs "too much" then they are bad bloggers and attention whores.
But now to the question at hand, who are the winners and losers of this competition. I can easily tell you that the loser of who could blog less is Karl, jesus, I mean, when this kid farts he writes about it. Gosh! What a whore! Sorry Karl, but this information was taken from actual spreadsheeting and statistical analysis, and what stands, stands. Alright, now the drum roll please. The winner of the blog less competition is.......Becky L! Holy crap, all this girl did to stay on combatrhino was screw the ringleader of the site. That's right, she didn't even have to write any witty or informative blogs to stay on this site. She beat all of you. Unfortunately, at the end of the summer, though, she went bye bye. So you all suck compared to Becky. You attention whores. An honorable mention for the competition would be Kim T. I even forgot she was on this site until a second ago.

Now that we know who the winners and losers of 2004 are, you can do some deep introspection to see how you can win the battle of who could blog less.
Hell, I only read and comment on other people's blogs so they read and comment on my blog, thus giving me the highest comments to blogs ratio.

I'm sorry, but I don't go to Combatrhino every day to see the repetetive comments on a week old blog. I like it when people blog because if I didn't have new blogs to read, then I would probably be masturbating. So I would like to thank those incessant bloggers who keep my hands in a purely chaste position--typing comments with the keyboard.

If you are so concerned with being an attention whore, then take yourself off of Combatrhino because you are winning no competition for being selfless and you are just as self indulgent as anyone else so long as you have a web log. And those who have picture blogs every time have no room to talk. Hey look at me! This is the face behind those awesome blogs! If you are not concerned that you are an attention whore, then shut the fuck up about it.

Peace out,
Attention Whore #1

p.s. I'm definitely humbler than thou!

I saw/heard/experienced it before you, ergo, I'm better!!

Why is it that when somebody introduces you to something, or when somebody experiences something such as a music album, movie, or place before you, they have to rub it in that they have known about it for a relatively much longer time and make you feel inferior for only experiencing it so recently?

A perfect example of this phenomenon is when I discovered a movie that I really liked, and a commenter, who shall remain anonymous, expected, for some reason, that my excitement should subside much more quickly than his/her's did because I was so late on the gun. It's as if when somebody comes across something prior to you, they expect you to be as jaded and indifferent to it as they are. It's like parents not understanding when adolescents want to have lots and lots of sex. It's not about hormones, folks. It's just that we're excited we are getting these new toys to play with, and we don't even have to have you buy them for us--toys we can play with in all hours of the day and not get bored. But back to the point of the blog, people seem to have to rub it in your face when they found something before you. And they are so condescending about it, too. Like there is an inherent betterness to them for knowing about it first--like they have a right to whatever it is more than you do.

I guess our government doesn't really help change this mentality much since it says that since our ancestors lived here and yours didn't, then we have a right to freedom and you don't (although I pity the fool that thinks America is still the quintessential example of freedom). At the same time they are saying that, though, they are saying that our ancestors were responsible for slavery, not us. Well, you can't really pick and choose history how you like.

I'm not saying, though, that this "I saw/heard/experienced it before you, ergo, I'm better" mentality is always bad, though. Fashion is one area in which this mentality is actually good. For instance, if someone were to come up to me wearing bell bottoms, a ridiculous polyester shirt, and a dull colored sport coat, then I would say, "Sorry Karl, but the seventies were thirty years ago."

Another area where the mentality is good, too, is technology. So Korea is starting to think about nuclear weapons. Well, Korea, welcome to 1940.
So some guy in an african pygmy society discovered you could launch a stick pretty far if you just have a bigger, bent stick with sinew fastened at both ends. I don't care. I can find one of those at Toys 'R Us.

But other than things that are continually improving or coming in and out of fashion, people don't need to be such assholes about it. So what if I saw Casablanca last week gramps, I would've gone to see it when I was in the theaters except for the fact that I WASN'T ALIVE!

I don't care if you have seen it, heard it, or been there before, but it's new to me and I think it's exciting so you can just shut up and let me enjoy it!

Sunflower State

Well, after a long break, I am back in the Sunflower State of Kansas, and I have had two very uneventful days of class. Except for the fact that my Math professor has dreadlocks and is a total hippie, and my English professor looks like an ex-hippie, school has been pretty mundane.

I have stumbled on something, though, that has made the beginning of this semester pretty exciting. On my last day in O town, I was introduced to quite an awesome movie, Garden State.

Zach Braff's first written/directed/starred-in movie is an incredible visual, auditory, and interpersonal show.
For those who haven't seen the movie, Zach Braff's brainchild is really made by amazing performances from Natalie Portman, Sir Ian Holm, and Peter Sarsgaard, and of course Zach Braff himself. Natalie Portman's performance as "Sam" in Garden State is certainly her best performance from any film I've seen her in.

Although some of the names of the main actors may not register when you read them, all have been in famous works of some kind recently. Natalie Portman is obviously Queen Amidala in Star Wars. Ian Holm's most recent notable role was Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Peter Sarsgaard was in K-19. Writer/director/actor Zach Braff is most notable for his role as Dr. J.D. Dorian on the popular TV show Scrubs.

If you are unfamiliar with the plot of the movie, Garden State is about a young actor trying to make it in LA who must return home for his mother's funeral after being estranged from his family for 9 years. The majority of the movie takes place in New Jersey (the Garden State) and follows the few days that Andrew Largeman (Zach Braff) spends at home.

The movie is very funny, and it has an excellent story to back up the comedy. I would suggest anybody to see it if you haven't done so thus far.

Oh yeah, Joel is totally Andrew Largeman. All you need, Joel, is Natalie Portman. Good luck.

Anyways, I will blog another time. It's not like I'm putting a period at the end of this blog. It's more like an ellipsis...

California, here we come

Today I am leaving for Lawrence, KS, where I will spend the next three days sitting around and going to choir practice. Then, early in the morning on January 6th, I, along with forty other guys from KU Men's Glee Club will drive to Kansas City International from where we will depart for California.
We will spend 11 days in California with only 4 performances in that period. We will hit up pretty much all of SoCal by staying in LA and San Diego, and one day we might head down to Tijuana, Mexico for a little party action. It should be a rockin' time, and since I just got a new computer, I should finally have a picture blog of all the crazy festivities from out in California.

So tonight was my last night in town, and that means that I likely won't see a lot of you people until summer rolls around, and some I will likely see at spring break. If I didn't get a chance to see you over the break, then I'm sorry, and I wish I had. I was in town for only about 8 full days, and it's really tough to see everybody in that time span. When the summer comes I will make sure to see everyone that I missed.

Well, I have to get up early today, so I will leave you now.
Peace.
