idiotarod!

a small entry, but this last weekend I participated in the annual idiotarod, a cross-borough race that simulates the iditarod. with the minor difference of shopping carts instead of sleds and humans instead of dogs.

the event was insane. nowhere else can you not fear repercussion for beating people with mannequin legs. imagine if you will the craziness of 80 teams of 5 all crossing a narrow bridge, racing against each other, in costume, with some big old drunk people. oh and the ever-ominous police presence.
our team's name was "legsplosion"; the creative force behind our team can be attributed to the infamous zaq. he is also the dude who created zaqistan (a country in which I am the national t-shirt adviser).

here are all the pictures I could find (none taken by myself as it would not have been practical to bring my camera)

and this one

there are a lot more of the race itself. there were some wild people here, it is definitely worth a look. though the legs always win (if only in spirit and toughness)

update:
I'm famous. This was on the front page of the dorky nyu news!!!

cultural collisions

boog.jpg

last night was the successful dj spooky event that I helped to put on. a remix of birth of a nation. it was very cool, a collection of well mixed beats and interesting visuals

david byrne was there.
so was the supreme sarah rogers, my rad co-chair
so was julie c
it was
exciting

update:

the show was a remix of the infamous racist film Birth of a Nation. both video and audio were being remixed, live , with tons of dripped out beats, vector graphics and clever visual juxtaposition. it was a crunch to get a lot of people to come to the show, but a lot more showed up than originally anticipated, which is always a good thing when you promote a show.
dj spooky the man himself is very rad. his website is here, and he is all about cross-idea sampling and the creation of new from re-interpretation of old. if you are at all into new ideas concerning art, his book Rhythm Science is worth checking out (and well-designed).

What's up Fatlip?

yesterday I went to the dentist. it was a very pleasant dental experience.

for some reason I felt it would be neccessary to kick a Novocaine'd freestyle. the following is ineffective, "uncouth," not that funny, and uncomfortable to watch. But please enjoy! (there are a few swear words)

Too many things/much stereo

Continuing the deluge of content:

It was finally time for me to create a centralized location for all of my musics.

Please enjoy! (responsibly)

Sorry to anyone who is not credited correctly. There are a lot of things that are not up there, as well. AND SOME RAW STUFFS

the best of 2005

it is always a fun and laborious process to take 2300 photos down to 200 or so photos down to the final 60 or best photos of the year. I really like this set, but I like every set. However, I did find that I didn't need to use as many words this year. This either means I am less wordy or the pictures were better.
