Welcome one and all to finals time, that time when heads ache and vision blurs due to extended viewing of computer screens and literature. And videogame breaks become less frequent. Thank you Simpsons Season 7 on DVD to keep me company.
I need to get this Film Theory final paper done by Tuesday, which won't be a problem, but it's just driving me nuts. I hate, hate, hate theory. People who quote Derrida instead of fresh ideas are the dullest people in the world, and this is a whole class devoted to nothing but that sort of thing.
My paper for Race and Ethnicity in American Comedy over Will Smith is completed, and for those of you who takes hits of Davewords like sweet, sweet H will be glad to know I am probably going to upload the final draft after its proofing and final edit stage.
And now for the remaining work (besides Film Theory):
Can anyone note specific songs not from the St. Louis region, so no Nelly, St. Lunatics, Chingy, etc. that use the "-urr" variable. Also known as "right thurr" instead of "there", "hurr" for "here", and so forth. Because that is what I need to find an non-regional example of to complete the final project for African American English 1. And yes, I am taking AAE 2 next semester. It will teach us pedagogical issues of teaching standard English in schools and how to introduce this to young African Americans so as to remove the obvious educational gap and troubled school systems in the area, particularly in Queens , Bronx and Harlem. Fun times.
