Every once in a while a song comes along that truly inspires. To those that have been following the zany conversion of ex-Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch (who left the band to follow Christianity as he felt Korn and Jesus were mutually exclusive), this shall be old news. It was revealed a few weeks ago that his first project was releasing a "divine call" to 50 Cent asking the rapper to change his violent ways.
You see, this isn't even really Welch's work. The song's lyrics are simply what God told him to say, and Welch is just the obedient medium. He originally did this crazyass stunt in which he told 50 he wouldn't release the song if the rapper would just talk to him a while so he could deliver the message further. Thankfully, 50 never bothered getting back on that.
Sooo a week ago the song was leaked to the glorious internet, and I have been listening to it ever since. Around 40 times, actually. And get this: THE WORD OF GOD SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MID-90S KORN! Isn't that awesome? I didn't know Jesus was down with Issues and the whole nu-metal mock-aggressive troubled white suburban tweener image!
Oh but he is. So here is the song (which is unfortunately just a small, 2 minute taste of the assumably longer glory to come soon enough):
Brian "Head" Welch - A Cheap Name
Listen and spread the Word.

i always love a cheap attempt at trying to make jesus "cool" by society's musical standards.
"wow! you can play rap music and talk about jesus at the same time, that's awesome!"
the truth is nobody likes an overbearing christian (or any religion for that matter)...whether it's a guy trying to get you to come to his cray-cray bible study or brian welch who is trying to convert people through his nu-metal.
Posted by: bone 1.0 at April 6, 2005 10:38 AMto be fair dave, this doesn't REALLY sound like Korn. I feel like you didn't experience this genre of music in the right way at the time. more like deftones or something, but maybe similar genre yes.
u so ironic boi, iz so hott
Posted by: Jeff at April 6, 2005 10:55 AMyeah to be honest, i didn't listen to the song until now...
doesn't remind me of korn, but rather a steaming pile of feces.
Posted by: bone 1.0 at April 6, 2005 10:59 AMits maybe like a bad enigma song on lots of painkillers.
ps i dont like having to type an email address. i rarely get emails because of my comments. fix it!
Posted by: joel at April 6, 2005 11:08 AMwell it can't sound exactly like korn, obviously, because it's welch singing and not the harmonics of the leads. and its much more electronic and fuzzed out, but yeah, i still hear it and hear korn. then again, i havent heard korn since middle school. man, those were the days... Issues had like 4-5 different covers you could choose from, and Fred Durst wasnt suing the internet.

This song needs a few..."OH WAH AH AH AH"'s. It's too much like "Korn And The Full Effect".
Posted by: Jordan at April 6, 2005 12:35 PMThat was not korn, that was Deftones, I completely agree with Jefe on this one.
