coming again to save the motherf*cking day

Anyone see last Sunday's episode of the Simpsons? It was spectacular...quite the comment on homosexual marriage if I do say so myself. In my favorite scene, Reverend Lovejoy was condeming homosexuals and their practice, using the Bible as "evidence." Marge rebutted, making a wonderful point while the Reverend rang the church bell making Marge's argument inaudible. An all-too-familar scene, I suppose. Church officials seem far too keen using the same collection of books that was used to defend slavery and the oppresion of women to condemn homosexuality, all while making too much of a clamor to dampen any dissention.

Because I'm one of those cool kids who downloads CDs way before they come out, I got my hands on the new A Static Lullaby CD. Probably one of the worst downloads of all time, just short of goatse. Thank god Frances the Mute comes out next Tuesday. My ears need cleansing.

Team America: World Police. I need to see this movie, all I've heard is the soundtrack and it's hilarious.

Music soon?

truth hits everyone

New music selections:

Motion City Soundtrack's cover of Truth Hits Everybody by the police. Puretty good. Also a couple of tracks from the new releases of Anberlin and the Acacdemy Is...(who will be playing the Ranchbowl with Midtown and Fall Out Boy April 3rd). The Academy Is... CD is really schway. It just came out today and there's not a bad song on it.

Blog Notes: Emily, I want to see Segway pictures! And is Laura? blogging anymore...or did we scare her off?

If you're in high school, or even if you're not, you should read this.

alright, alright slow down...

Lots of things going on this past weekend. I had a good time in Kansas City and Lawrence, with the random crew that had assembled. That's Shaffer 1, Shaffer 2, Jayme, Samara and myself. An odd combination of people, but a very entertaining bunch. 'Twas awesome. I'm expecting some pictures and stories from others on our Segway adventures and other random musings.

There was quite the discussion at about 2:30 this morning on Jayme's theory about how everyone on Combat Rhino fits some stereotype or role. Blog it Jayme. Please.

Also in our late night discussion (or maybe at dinner) I figured out why I don't like most "indie" music. It's an opinion so you can take it or leave it. I like polished hi-fi music. Delicious produced sound is my main criteria...too many "indie" bands are lo-fi thinking they can get away with a formulaic name (The fill -in-the-blank) with underproduced guitars, less than spectacular drumming and vocals that are a bit off key that allows listeners to say "His voice isn't spectacular, but it's really interesting and emotional" Fuck lo-fi. I want the whole overproduced package on a CD, and you better be able to back it up live.

Not on the lo-fi bandwagon is this band:

I was just looking for some sort of segway there...but yeah MCS played extremely well. No one cares, but I'm putting this picture up anyway.

Music sometime soon? Of course, but not now.

well it's not like it hurts much anyway

So I got an anonymous comment on my Maynard themed blog series calling me an "asshole spewing shit." There's nothing more aggravating than someone who can't own up to their own comments, insulting or not. Sure, what I write might not always be the most kosher or socially acceptable, but at least I take responsibility for what I'm putting out there. Someone posted anonymously before, insulting the Maynards horribly without taking responsibility. I quickly deleted them. Bottom line: stop acting like a weak 12-year old and put a name to your comments.

Anyway...

New music will be posted by the end of this week, finally. That may or may not interest you, but I promise good tunes.

Saturday I'm headed down to Lawrence, KS. Samara and I are headed to the Epitaph tour show there. Maybe we'll see Shaffer? And the other Shaffer? Who knows? It'll be cool and you can bet there'll be photos since my server is back in action.

If you really want me to like you, you could buy me this. Seriously.

Random question: does anyone use Firefox for web browsing? Or is everyone still using Internet Explorer? This only applies to Windows users, I'll assume Mac users are using Safari.
