hey, johnny park!

If anyone has seen the episode of Seinfeld where Jerry has a smelly car, I've got the same problem with my dorm room. I left Saturday, my roomate and his girlfriend chilled in here, I come back and they're gone and the room smells like nasty armpit juice. I've sprayed Febreeze to no avail and have gone as far as washing every piece of clothing and bedding I own. Still stinks a bit. It's gotta be Joe's fault.

A note on the previous entries: 800 downloads and only 23 comments? It's not like I write to get comments, but it's sometimes nice to know who is reading, especially if you're new. I usually count on the usual CR crew to take a gander at my ramblings, but if you're just poking around drop a line let me (or any other CR'er) know. We don't bite, I promise. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

It's time to watch Collateral, I hear it's good. Oh! If you live in Nebraska, enjoy the next two days outside...it's supposed to be near sixty.

bandwidth blown! UPDATE

Well I didn't know the Maynards were soooo popular...over 1200 hits and at least 600 full downloads. Using up my monthly bandwith (5 gigs) in one day didn't make my hosting provider too happy, and they shut me down for the rest of the month.

EDIT: CombatRhino who pays for much more bandwidth than I do is now hosting the video, albeit in a more compressed version. Be sure to tell J-Sizzy and erik! thanks.

It looks like my picture galleries and other things will be unavailable for the time being. I know you'll miss my pretty face on the sidebar.

hallelujah it's raining tears, part two

Here's the American Idol clip for those of you who missed it or want to laugh over and over again...

For those of you who didn't attend Westside High School, these over-confident girls have been talking about their musical career taking off for the last 5 or 6 years (as long as I've known them) but really haven't gone anywhere important. Simon Cowell ate them up on TV (no pun intended), mainly for their weight problem which was showcased by their disgusting wardrobe choice. And I'm sure the raccoon eye makeup didn't help either...

I'm probably going to hell.

hallelujah it's raining tears

Who saw the Maynards get called fat by Simon Cowell on American Idol? They cried and asked for the video not to be on TV. Hilariously heart-warming.

Hopefully I'll put up vidcaps and/or video of this debacle in the next day or two...

sunny santa fe would be nice

I haven't made any new entries as of late, as I lack original material and am trying to avoid '"journaling" syndrome. I think there are few people who actually enjoy reading about what people ate for dinner, or what movie they're watching or looking at the superfluous pictures of the same 10-15 people. The trend I'm seeing is that CR is a means for merely publishing photos to their friends. While that's all fine and good, it's hardly interesting or original it's been done time and time again (I'm as guilty as anyone else). Solution? Put together a photo gallery with links in the sidebar that you update everytime you take pictures socially. EDIT: Or even something like Jeff's Best of 2004 Pictures...create a picture page to showcase the photos you've taken. Your friends will still think they're cool because their picture is on the internet and you can still prove that you do indeed have friends. Bottom line: unless there's a cool story/event/trip/murder behind the pictures or if they're mildly original/creative, I don't want to see them.

My music selections in the sidebar haven't changed for a long time. I'm not planning on doing much to them until I buy some new CDs this coming year. There are a lot of new releases to be excited about. Here are the top three I'm waiting for (with summaries where I feel motivated to do so):

1) The Mars Volta, Frances the Mute - I got ahold of an unfinished copy of this CD and it's out of this world. No matter what Dave J tells you, these guys are good.

2) Motion City Soundtrack's sophomore release. Their first CD, I Am the Movie is one of my favorites, their second should be just as good with Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 producing.

3) Anberlin, Never Take Friendship Personal. A band I started listening to recently, you can check them out at http://www.purevolume.com/anberlin.

Other anticipated releases this spring include: Emanuel, A Static Lullaby, Fall Out Boy, Circa Survive and rumors of a new CD from Funeral for a Friend.
