I haven't made any new entries as of late, as I lack original material and am trying to avoid '"journaling" syndrome. I think there are few people who actually enjoy reading about what people ate for dinner, or what movie they're watching or looking at the superfluous pictures of the same 10-15 people. The trend I'm seeing is that CR is a means for merely publishing photos to their friends. While that's all fine and good, it's hardly interesting or original it's been done time and time again (I'm as guilty as anyone else). Solution? Put together a photo gallery with links in the sidebar that you update everytime you take pictures socially. EDIT: Or even something like Jeff's Best of 2004 Pictures...create a picture page to showcase the photos you've taken. Your friends will still think they're cool because their picture is on the internet and you can still prove that you do indeed have friends. Bottom line: unless there's a cool story/event/trip/murder behind the pictures or if they're mildly original/creative, I don't want to see them.
My music selections in the sidebar haven't changed for a long time. I'm not planning on doing much to them until I buy some new CDs this coming year. There are a lot of new releases to be excited about. Here are the top three I'm waiting for (with summaries where I feel motivated to do so):
1) The Mars Volta, Frances the Mute - I got ahold of an unfinished copy of this CD and it's out of this world. No matter what Dave J tells you, these guys are good.
2) Motion City Soundtrack's sophomore release. Their first CD, I Am the Movie is one of my favorites, their second should be just as good with Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 producing.
3) Anberlin, Never Take Friendship Personal. A band I started listening to recently, you can check them out at http://www.purevolume.com/anberlin.
Other anticipated releases this spring include: Emanuel, A Static Lullaby, Fall Out Boy, Circa Survive and rumors of a new CD from Funeral for a Friend.
