worlds apart

Here are the pictures from Worlds of Fun...

For those of you choir kids that know Mr. Oswald, you oughta check these out. Seriously.

when you run they'll follow you

Since the frontpage of CombatRhino is under construction it takes a little more effort to find new blogs, so I'm not sure how many people will read this but here goes:

During the last week I've been in Kansas City twice, once for Warped Tour and the other time for a Worlds of Fun trip. I've got pictures for both, but right now my laziness is going to put up the Warped pictures first, and probably Worlds of Fun pics tomorrow.

Warped Tour was flat-out awesome. I saw as many bands in one day as I normally would see in probably 6 months. The only major disappointment was missing Motion City Soundtrack's set. I guess I shouldn't be too bummed about it, Jesse, their moog player told me that Justin's (the lead singer) voice is shot to hell and that it was better that I missed them playing. Sanchez backed him up when I saw him later. Other cool things include the acquisition of Coheed and Cambria's comic book by Bone 2.0 and all of us getting to meet Claudio Sanchez, their leader singer. 'Twas schway.

Here are the pictures. The next blog will bring hilarity, as long as you find gorilla sex funny. I know I do.

i guess it's too bad

So I thought I'd get a lot of sleep after going to bed at 4:00 a.m., but no luck. At 7:00 a.m., I woke up on my own and have been sitting doing nothing since. An awful existence...I'm trying to get myself tired enough that I'll go nap without difficulty. Maybe in an hour.

Last night, or actually this morning seven hours ago I went to go to bed. Of course it was completely dark in my house so I had trouble finding the stairs and ended up falling, completely smashing my face on the railing. I cut my lip pretty bad, but the whole thing doesn't look badass enough for my taste.

I'm going to put up all my Chicago pictures later, but here's Kyle Farnsworth.

Last year Paul Wilson of the Reds tried to pick a fight with him. That doesn't happen much anymore. He's a beast.

Chris Hanson, I'm sorry. I should've known it was a bad idea to tell our secret to your sister.

it was gonna happen sooner or later

For those of you that care (probably just Tommy), I was at Wrigley watching the Cubs yesterday. Without a doubt the best game I've ever seen them play. Greg Maddux throwing 92 pitches in 9 innings, allowing only 4 hits and 2 runs for his 298th career win. On top of that, add Moises Alou hitting 2 back-to-back homeruns with his urine-soaked hands, Mark Grudzlianek going yard and Aramis Ramirez slugging a sweet-ass grand slam to center. Final score: Cubs 13, Reds 2. Obligatory pictures when I get back to Omaha.

I guess a lot of stuff happened in Omaha while I've gone, the least of which being 2.5 inches of rain. I hope it didn't ruin my patio project which was nearing completion.

Back tonight.

red would mean you loved me

311. It's been blogged already, but I'm gonna put in my two cents too. Definitely a top five moment of the summer, if not my life. The entire thing was out of control in a good way and it got people in Omaha together. Plus, everyone can now say they've been to a real rock show because it doesn't get any crazier than that. Well, if the concert ended in a European-style soccer riot, that might be crazier...

I pulled up all the bricks at McCollister's, time to lay 'em back down.

Motion City Soundtrack released an acoustic version of My Favorite Accident, and I'm in love with it. Check it out on the right.

I, Robot. Reviews? I'm guessing it was terrible judging by the presence of every clichéd Will Smith line in the trailers. "Aww hell naw!"

while we bled

I went to the dermatologist to get my warts removed and they froze them all. It...was...awesome. Here's 75% of my wart collection post-freezing, one already has a huge blister on it. I can't wait to pop that effer.

if you feel a little lighter

A lot has happened since I blogged last but I'll spare you the schedule, because those blogs aren't fun.

I am working again, though. I'm pulling all the bricks out of the McCollister's patio, releveling the patio and laying all 2500+ bricks back down. That 2500 figure is just a good guess, I pulled about 1000 up today in 6 hours and am not even halfway done, but you can be sure I'll share a final figure once I have it.

The Good Life played a concert tonight at Sokol Underground. I'm into the whole concert scene, but these guys didn't really trip my trigger if you know what I mean. They're accomplished musicians, but not really up my alley. (Sorry, Dave) A trip to the Donut Stop made me feel better about driving down there and spending 7 bucks on a show.

311. Everyone is talking about it. I'll see you there.

New song up, by the way. It's from Shrek 2 and better than the entire Smashmouth collection from the first Shrek.

tonight we fly

One more trip this summer (I thought I was done)...I'm heading to Chicago with my family to see the Cubbies play at Wrigley Field. I couldn't be more excited, it's been at least two years since I've been there for a game.

New music up thanks to Bone 2.0's willingness to go out and purchase CDs, something I haven't done in a while. Further Seems Forever is luscious and Hawthorne Heights is decent screamo. Speaking of music, I need to get the new Midtown CD.

If you don't know already, I'm rushing next year at UNL. This will be cool by the end of the whole ordeal, but right now it's the biggest pain in the ass. I'm getting literally five or six phone calls a day from guys wanting me to either go out to eat with them or show up to their parties. While this might excite Shaffer, I just don't have the time or patience for it all. Maybe I just won't answer the phone anymore.

I added a photo gallery page in the side bar (the "...more pictures") link which should come in handy when I get the time to put up more pictures.

That's it.

broken glass

I'm back from my travels and couldn't feel any better to be home.

I got that video from the Today Show and edited it down to all the close-ups of our group. Check it out.

i just wanna use your love tonight

That's Al Roker. Dan Torson and I, along with others were on the Today Show for an extended period of time yesterday which was awesome to say the least. I think video will be up at some point too, when I get back in town. Here are some more pictures from NYC. Some are are real weird and probably need some background information or a story to accompany them, but I won't provide it. I'm leaving it to your imagination.

Overall New York city was overwhelming and awesome. From visiting NYU (tres suhweet Jeff and Dave) to eating and chatting with Rupert Jee at the Hello Deli I was able to see and do everything I had planned on or expected. Pretty amazing for a trip where four days were spent working in soup kitchens and homeless shelters.

Sadly though as soon as I returned, I must leave again. Wisconsin for a couple of days, shouldn't be too bad I don't think. I get back Tuesday night so I'm hoping I can make it to 30 cent wings if people are interested.
