josie's on a vacation far away

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the best legs in the Westside Class of 2004:

Thanks to Joel and Dave for organizing a strong grassroots campaign. I've always wanted to win some sort of Senior Superlative, like it's been my dream since I was a freshman...so thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Congrats to the numerous other Combatants that won superlatives as well. Woot.

A strange phenomenon has entered the Bone household recently. My mom and dad discovered that all our old stuff that doesn't work, or work so well, they can sell on eBay. Things just started disappearing, and now I can't watch Aladdin because our VCR is gone. Damnit.

Greg Maddux got his first win yesterday.

watch over me

All my blogs are about track, considering I write them after track meets. So...another meet and two personal records. I dropped .59 seconds off of my 800 lowering me to 2:00.10...although two unofficial timers had me under two which is sweet. But it's not official so it doesn't count. Half an hour later I ran the mile in 4:41, which isn't a great time, but not too bad considering the circumstances. Next week some people are going to get messed up...fo' def.

That concert thing my brother is in, you should go to that.

It's two hours past my usual bedtime...so yeah I'm out.

April 18, 2004

you can't see me peering through my glasses

I figure I'll weigh in on prom since everyone else has already. Ummm...it rocked. We went to this place called the Daily Grill for dinner and ate some bison, kangaroo and alligator. No joke. The dance was decent, although I've never been a big dance person. I will say there were too many dirty people licking and/or humping each other for my liking. I found some entertainment in it though, I was able to make fun of them and feel better about myself. As far as post prom...let's just say I'm undefeated at the obstacle course.

That Guy = The Guy that graduates high school (or should graduate high school, but for some reason doesn't) and comes back to high school dances. There were way too many That Guys at prom last night. Ricockulous, I say. Ricockulous.

New music on the left by a band called Brazil. I saw them on when they were playing with Coheed and Funeral and they were pretty schway. Their CD, A Hostage and the Meaning of Life comes out on Tuesday. Woot.

April 16, 2004

this all seems so familiar

Once again the track meet this week went pretty well. I dropped a 2:01.8 in the first leg of our 4x800 relay which at the time was a season best and my second fastest time ever. It was also good enough to put a relay team who consistently got last into sixth place. Woot. I also ran a 2:00.69 in the open 800. My favorite part about that is the 69. And the fact that it's a PR. There is some sweet video footage of the second race, I hope to get my hands on it.

After a rocky start, the Cubs have won their last three and are sitting atop the NL Central. Mommy says we can go to Wrigley Field to see a game or two this year. Yessss.

The verdict was handed down from the IMC Overlords today. I'm out for one more week which is upsetting considering there are only three more weeks left of school for me. Oh well. Carman did tell me I'm the only who has had an "out for the semester" ruling overturned, which is a feat in itself I must say.

Prom is tomorrow. I've never been and I'm not sure what to expect. Word on the street is that it's better than other school dances, but I be better than school dances by having a dance party in my basement.

from the tangles of my heart

Another track meet tomorrow. Ugh. I get nervous for these things like no other and so I really don't want to go. To make matters worse it's going to be eighty degrees and pretty windy, which isn't the best distance running weather. Eh, I'll survive.

The whole NHS shindig was today. Essentially it's an excuse for anyone who cares enough to get mediocre grades to dress up. If you saw some of the NHS crew this year, it's easy to see we're not dealing with Mensa. Then again I've always been a fan of applied intelligence rather than applied ass-kissing.

On a similar note, Nancy Knapp was the featured speaker at the NHS induction ceremony. Nice woman, don't get me wrong, but when she started speaking about character all I could hear was "copy machine."

Battle of the Sexes is tomorrow night. I wish I could go, but I can't. You should go in my place.

bye, bye beautiful

You know that new deodorant with the stripe? The one Method Man and Redman are pitching? Well, I got a stick and let me tell you, it’s awesome. Most deodorants overpower you with their crappy wannabe cologne scent, but this stuff is a subtle bit of heaven. Lately I’ve even caught myself smelling my own armpits…weowd.

New songs in the blog. I’ve listened to Coheed and Cambria everyday for the past week, so I figure I oughta put up a new song. Or two. The Crowing is my favorite song of theirs, it starts off slow but achieves pure and unfettered rockness at about the 4:50 mark. A Favor House Atlantic is a short, catchy one all should dig.

April 10, 2004

this time it's the last dance, so come on

My return to track was much more glorious than expected. I was aiming for a 2:10 in the 800, really not thinking I could break 2:15 and hence, was put in the slow heat. Whoops! I guess I shouldn't have been there...I ran a 2:04 (my PR is 2:00), beat the nearest runner by 100 meters and was a second off from placing.

I need some pictures of me running, but they just aren't in existence. I'll have Mom and Dad get to work on that.

Monday brings more school and one more day without a home. For those of you that don't know, I was kicked out of the SS IMC for the semester and I'm working to get back in. It's coming along nicely, but still nothing definite. Damn.

April 7, 2004

it's over

I hate to double up on blogs in one day, but this is necessary. Above is a picture of me, severely distraught minutes after puking for the first time in over eighteen years. Track did it to me...

the promise that he made

I wasn't going to blog for awhile, but I did a mondo-huge music update that almost necessitates a blog so I'm gonna roll with this and see where it leads.

Spring break is about halfway done and up to this point, it has rocked. It's possible to say that this is the best spring break ever, at least in my high school career. Snow is predicted for this weekend though, and that would easily ruin the break.

First track meet on Friday. I think I'm gonna get dominated even though I'm in the slow heat of the 800. I'm just not in shape after the injury.

New tunes on the left. One of my top five Coheed choices, a rarity from MCS and Funeral for a Friend's single. Click. Listen. Enjoy.

Rumor has it that there is a shirt that says "Cut Your Mullet" at Target. I need to make this shirt mine.

pull the trigger and the nightmare stops

Wow. The concert flat-out rocked. Funeral for a Friend came on and only about 20 people in a crowd of hundreds knew who they were, but we rocked out UK style anyways. Coheed and Cambria took the stage about an hour after FFAF was done and blew the crowd away for the next hour and a half. Definitely worth the twelve hours of driving. Now...onto pictures.

This tri-fold advertisement for McDonalds advertisement was just asking to be stolen. And, after an elaborate plan involving a fake-bronchitis attack and some black guys called Sanchez a "nasty motherfucker," it was ours and the Story City, IA McDonalds was none the wiser.

This was a trip without rules, except for the second one down on the list.

Stone wanted to wear the small shirt. He looks like a bouncer or something w/ the bulging muscles.

Me right after the concert in our hotel room. I soaked through the two t-shirts I was wearing. Hot in more ways than one, I know.

The only thing hotter than me is Sanchez with his shirt off.

everything will work out

I think tonight I'll get sleep for the first time in quite a while. Troubled emotions were resolved with meaningful words and I'm at peace.

Tomorrow I'm leaving for Minneapolis for a concert and Alan is coming along. How fun. Coheed and Cambria w/ Funeral for a Friend will be rocktastic. I'll put up pictures from the journey if they turn out alright.
