as restless as a storm

What I'm Listening To: No Vacancy - Heal Me, I'm Heartsick. A decent song, plus the singer has got an awesome rockstar voice.

Yes, Reginald VelJohnson is the dad from Family Matters. I don't think he's up to much lately as far as acting goes. Maybe a commercial or two for toilet cleaner. I was looking through his filmography and in movies and TV shows he always plays a cop. I guess he couldn't shed that image.

I forgot today was Halloween until I saw the Shafster's costume.

ferocious angels send me falling stars

What I'm Listening To: Spin Doctors - How Could You Want Him.

I sat in an IMC and had an entire conversation with Mr. Carman on how no toaster has been a complete success. How weird is that?

Anyone want to start a Reginald VelJohnson fan club with me? Does anyone even know who Reginald VelJohnson is?

October 29, 2003

crash into me

What I'm Listening To: Story of the Year - Swallow the Knife. It's a mellow tune, most should enjoy it.

Bobby says to me the other day after he almost hits me w/ his car, "I'll never get in a car accident. Never." Yesterday he hit the Shafster from behind.

in the shadows of our life

Made some significant purchases at Best Buy. I picked up Boondock Saints and The Big Lebowski on DVD. Two of my favorite movie, ten a piece, not a bad deal. I was going to pick up three more of my favorite movies, but they're asking nearly sixty bucks for the Indiana Jones boxed set. I'll wait until the price drops.

Bone 2.0 picked up Story of the Year's CD, it's rockin'. I can't wait until their show next month.

October 27, 2003

wake up part deux

Instead of doing the smart thing and sleeping, I looked at hilarious things on the internet.

Check this out.

wake up

I'm an idiot. I forgot to change my alarm time along with the daylight savings time and now I'm up really early. I'm going back to bed.

October 26, 2003

choppa style

My computer is upgraded to the max. It's pretty sweet. Put in 5 times the memory, 4 times the hard drive space and installed OS X.2. It's a pretty rocking machine compared to what it used to be.

I did absolutely nothing after frisbee today. Nothing.

The Marlins won the World Series. Congrats to them for being the best team. The fact remains though, they aren't a real team. Same with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

October 25, 2003

ride or die

I'm not quite sure what to think of the ACT. I am positive about one thing: the math section bent over and took it from me.

I played frisbee for the first time in two months. It was a whole lotta fun, my defensive skills were off the heezy.

Speaking of off the heezy, at the state XC meet I listened to more rap than any one human being should listen to. I don't know if anyone has heard Choppa Style, but it cracked me up. Check it out if you can.

October 24, 2003

first we gonna rock

I did as Drew and Karl requested, the hair isn't much shorter.

Went to Beijing Gate for Chinese. You have to see my fortune cookie fortune. It's awesome:

October 23, 2003

i wouldn't have it any other way

Sympathies to Amy B who got in a car accident. It's been a car accident week I tell ya...

Last night at 11, Boobs and I drove around to places in Omaha we'd never been to. After seeing the crowd at 30th and Ames, I came to the conclusion that 11 pm wasn't the best time to be exploring some parts of Omaha.

Chinese Wednesday's picture is going to be taken today. We're the yearbook, I guess. How rock is that?

I'm getting my haircut. Should I keep it longer than usual or keep it short. If you comment by 2:00, your opinion will be considered.

October 22, 2003

running circles in my head

The ACT. Study? Don't study? What should I do? I did pretty well last time, I took it after two weeks of pneumonia and sitting in bed. The simple fact that I'm not sick this time around is encouraging. I guess I'll do some practice tests or something.

Guess what? I have to take the ACT the weekend after the SAT. If standardized tests were parties, I'd be the coolest guy ever.

October 21, 2003

savor it

I thought I was done blogging about my chinese obsession, but I've got more to share.

Alex Sutherland, Matt Smith, Spurzem and I went to China Buffet at 114th and Dodge. I've never been a huge fan of buffets and was a little reluctant. Alex and Matt talked it up in Calc class though so I was willing to give it a try. Holy crap. Let's just list off what I ate and enjoyed: 11 crab rangoons, 4 main dishes, 1 bowl of soup, 3 ice cream cones, 2 plates of rice and one huge plate of stuff made on a mongolian grill. How much did this cost me? 7 bucks after tax. I think it's safe to say I ate at least 25 dollars worth of chinese food. Off to deal with the consequences of my feast...

October 20, 2003

take me for a ride

I just got back from St. Louis. I went down there for an admissions interview with Syracuse, but accomplished so much more.

While in St. Louis, my dad and I went to a casino buffet. I had never been to one of these but have heard great things. My dad an I figured the food would be alright and the people-watching would easily be worth the price of admission. Let me tell you, it was. Ameristar's St. Louis casino has more mutants than X-Men.

I left town and once again, upon my return more bloggers have been added to the site. Steve Z made me laugh.

My dad and I went to see Lost in Translation, the new Bill Murray movie. I walked out of the theater pissed off because the ending was incredibly bizarre. After sleeping on it though, my final verdict is that the film was incredibly good. What a difference a night makes.

October 18, 2003

dreaming of things we might've been

During the next two weeks I won't be running for the first time in about eight months. It's cahrazy. I'm going to start eating a lot, drinking a ton of pop and try to pick up several other unhealthy habits.

Anyone want to see Kill Bill with me? Or School of Rock, if you haven't seen it yet I'd go with you.

I'm headed to St. Louis this weekend for some college stuff. I'll be out of town until Monday night, I hope Omaha doesn't miss me too much.

October 16, 2003

where do i go from here?

So my high school cross country career is officially over. Fenwick, my bro and I were in 7, 8, 9 place through two miles and ended up finishing 12, 14, 18 respectively. Top 15 qualify for state. I can't handle this. Goddamnit.

I don't have anything to say of importance. I'll be spending the next week moping.

October 15, 2003

tell me why this hurts so much

There was a streaker at the Powderpuff Football game last night. I recieved a plethora of comments and even a couple of phone calls about it from people who thought it was me. I was flattered, but had to tell them it wasn't me. I heard from several unreliable sources it was some douchebag junior.

Tomorrow is possibly my last XC race in high school. I'm not sure what to think.

son of a...

Bobby says to me yesterday, "The Cubs are going to clinch it tonight...I know it." I say to him, "I've seen them screw too many things up in the past to make a statement like that." I was right.

October 14, 2003

i wonder if i'm on her mind

Oceans 11 is on. It's on my top 10 list of cool movies. George Clooney and Brad Pitt dress GQ-style and are a couple of badasses. The soundtrack is also fortified with thick funk. Mmm...funk.

While driving the other day I saw a semi-truck student driver. I didn't know they had these, but I suppose it's necessary.

Cubs. World Series. Can they close it out tonight?

Stephanie Lococo got in a car accident on Friday. I saw it happen and the whole event made me laugh because she is a moron. Check out Erik's blog if you want a detailed account of her idiocy.

October 13, 2003

the second hand will catch us

According to me, it's fall now. Rain and cold make it so.

All-out mile was real cold. Check out Bobby's blog for a summary of the action.

I gave it to Calculus pretty hard. Not as hard as Jeff Sisson was dishing it out, but still pretty hard.

Districts are on Thursday for XC, this is the most crucial time all season. I'm hoping the Bones and Fenwick will come through huge.

October 12, 2003

i'm quite contented to take my chances

Cubs are leading the Marlins 3-1 in the NLCS. I'd mention something about the World Series, but I don't want to jinx it.

For those of you with nothing better to do, there is going to be some crazy running going on at WHS after school on Monday. All-out mile. 2 Bones. Sub 4:50...at least. Need I say more? I've already said a lot...

October 10, 2003

just go ahead now

I had a couple of brief encounters with the early 90's. I came home and watched several episodes of the Simpsons from Season 3 which was produced in 1992. I then followed it up with a few tunes by the Spin Doctors, a CD I happily picked up at Goodwill yesterday. They are mega-rockin'.

The Nintendo controller has been completed and shall be unveiled tomorrow evening. It's cooler than I could've ever imagined.

johnny cage is not afraid to die

I missed a day of blogging for the first time in a long time. It's tough, but I know you'll move on.

I picked up Mortal Kombat: The Album at Goodwill yesterday. No, not from the movie, the album directly from the video game. It's pretty much just terrible techno with phrases like "Finish Him", "Ready...Fight!" and "Test Your Might" played over the top.

Since I don't have to go to choir today, I don't have class from 10:20 until 2:30.

October 8, 2003

it's blowin' you and me

A Mighty Wind came in the mail today. It's Christopher Guest at his finest, you should all see it if you haven't already.

Millard West's homecoming is quickly approaching. The theme of the dance is Monster's Ball, so it's a costume type thing. Anyways...my costume is rockin'. Amy and her friend are Mario and Luigi and we've fashioned a giant Nintendo controller for myself. I'll put up a picture after Saturday. It is hilarious.

October 7, 2003

johnny quest...he thinks we're what?

It's official. Chinese food is an obsession. Alex Sutherland and I did absolutely nothing in class today because we talked about Chinese food and the ultimate Chinese restaurant day.

I was in the hallway today while Kingston and Crook were discussing placements of more video cameras in the school. Anyone ever read 1984 by Orwell? Big brother is watching...

There's a choir concert tonight. If you're weird enough to want to see ATSC show up tonight at 7:30.

October 6, 2003

i hope you need this now

I like J-Sizzy's way of thinking about whining. If you signed up for it, don't whine. It's as simple as that.

There was a bug in Joel's egg-drop soup today. He ate it anyways, and I don't blame him. Chinese food is damn good.

October 5, 2003

cubs win...again!

Cubs just beat the Braves in the NLDS. Baseball players with weird up names like Andruw and Chipper are no match for Kerry Wood. We'll see what we can do with the Marlins.

School of Rock was an inspirational film, largely due to the presence of the word "rock" throughout the entire movie.

October 4, 2003

picture this

A short explanation on the adventures: The cross country campout was cancelled for some reason so we had to burn all the wood we were going to burn at the campout. We did this in the 3 hours. The photos document the afternoon's journey.

PHOTOS SOON. VERY SOON.

i race the clock with you

The XC meet yesterday was better than expected, far from my performance last year...but an improvement nonetheless.

Berkshire, Boobs, Shaffer, Fenwick and I created a sweet fire today. Pictures up later tonight.

October 3, 2003

going...going...gone

This week has been named crazy/fun clothes week by Joel Fulton and I. I capped it off today wearing some very pink athletic pants on loan from Libby DiBiase. Yesterday was pink shirt day and Wednesday was nerdy day where both Joel and I dressed like nerds.

Cubs play again tonight, I'm hoping Prior can kick ass like he did all season. Someone needs to beat the damn Braves. Actually just Andruw Jones because he can't spell his name right.

October 2, 2003

here we go again

I think the only questions people ask me about homework deal with classes I'm not in. I was asked at least 10 times this week how my Euro project was coming along or some similar question regarding Euro. On top of that, I've been asked about 5 times this week about Bio-Chem. I'm not taking these classes, leave me alone about them.

Cross country dinner was at my house tonight. I got to roll in Mary Windle's Thunderbird w/ my coach. It's a kickin' ride.

Speaking of XC, be at Walnut Grove tomorrow and cheer the boys from WHS on. Varsity dudes run at 5:30.

October 1, 2003

celebrate we will

So my birthday was alright. Nothing truly exciting, I haven't bought cigarettes yet. Maybe tomorrow. They're expensive though, I don't know if it's worth it.

I was worried about my glasses, but two girls said I looked attractive and in Jillian Goodman's words, I looked "fly." That can't be bad...not too many ladies commented on my looks prior to glasses.
