alright, alright slow down...

Lots of things going on this past weekend. I had a good time in Kansas City and Lawrence, with the random crew that had assembled. That's Shaffer 1, Shaffer 2, Jayme, Samara and myself. An odd combination of people, but a very entertaining bunch. 'Twas awesome. I'm expecting some pictures and stories from others on our Segway adventures and other random musings.

There was quite the discussion at about 2:30 this morning on Jayme's theory about how everyone on Combat Rhino fits some stereotype or role. Blog it Jayme. Please.

Also in our late night discussion (or maybe at dinner) I figured out why I don't like most "indie" music. It's an opinion so you can take it or leave it. I like polished hi-fi music. Delicious produced sound is my main criteria...too many "indie" bands are lo-fi thinking they can get away with a formulaic name (The fill -in-the-blank) with underproduced guitars, less than spectacular drumming and vocals that are a bit off key that allows listeners to say "His voice isn't spectacular, but it's really interesting and emotional" Fuck lo-fi. I want the whole overproduced package on a CD, and you better be able to back it up live.

Not on the lo-fi bandwagon is this band:

I was just looking for some sort of segway there...but yeah MCS played extremely well. No one cares, but I'm putting this picture up anyway.

Music sometime soon? Of course, but not now.

hi fi allows people like ashley simpson to get singing careers. and hilary duff.
but the word on the street is many indie bands aint so good live in concert.
I like both. Weezer is like both in one maybe?

i actually thought about that when developing my thoughts, but forgot to include it. i'm not supporting pop acts with my hi-fi movement, like ashley simpson or backstreet boys...but rather real bands who create/play their own music.

and like i said, you've got to be able to back it up live...without a pre-recorded music and/or vocal track.

I think maybe your lo-fi comment is off hand, but your live one is right on.

whenever I see MCS I think of MC5 a legendary lo-fi 60's blues/garage lo-fi band haha but its cool, I dig the gist of what you are saying

the white stripes much?

The fill-in-the-blank would be a sweet band name...

i'm t0t jeal about mcs

i agree with karl. and yes... pictures are soon to come. but i am tired and don't want to blog right now. so i guess i'll just do that tomorrow.

yeah i think its kind of annoying to see a whole production method written off as unsatisfying. but you knew i'd say that already.

of all the concerts ive been to, the worst sounding were TV on the Radio (vocals drowned out) and the shins, both bigger/richer bands. the best was the black keys. they just sounded so perfect. MCS sounded good when i saw them, but the venue tends to be everything.

anyway. i also love pieces of me perhaps ironically perhaps not, so whatevs.

karl is right. that would be a great band name. also if i had a band name that was 'the fill-in-the-blank' it would be 'the what-fuck(s?)'

like what the fuck. get it? get it?

i will be sure to do that blog soon and i may just start doing it now. excitement? i hope that i do my theory justice.

agreed on the band stuff. but see a lot of indie bands do have very polished sounds: the faint, bright eyes, cursive.

then again- they are just good. but some bands do take the time to make sure everything is right.

thiss is what you'll get when you messs with us.

you're right dave/jeff...the entire concept can't be written off completely, that's not fair. i'm more disgusted with the trend, not necessarily the scene as a whole. but the trend makes it easier to hate the scene as a whole.

the tv on the radio/shins thing seems like an issue of a sound tech being shitty rather than the band sucking. actually i'm sure that's what it is, based on your description.

bright eyes don't have the whole package, jayme. conor can't sing for dick.

im happy that i was at that concert...oh wait...i spent money on tickets but couldn't go because of cheerleading. thats right. i forgot. shit.

I agree, Bright Eyes are shitty. I don't care if it is lo-fi or hi-fi or sci-fi, if it sounds good, I'll listen to it.

you guys should listen to a real artist such as the new rap sensation, the game
